Nature village of Fischen

Fischen is exactly the kind of place people love to spend their holidays in the Allgäu. Between Oberstdorf and Sonthofen, close to the mountains and open to the valley. From here you can set off on hikes, bike tours, excursions and winter days out without long journeys. Nature trails such as the Auwald experience trail, the water discovery trail or the Alpine arboretum offer plenty of variety right on your doorstep. The Hörner villages

When you start looking into Fischen and our region, you’ll keep coming across the term "Hörnerdörfer" – the Hörner villages. It has nothing to do with people here being stubborn. Quite the opposite, in fact. The Hörner villages take their name from the distinctive mountain peaks that shape the landscape: the "Hörner". They ring the villages like natural signposts and give the region its unmistakable profile. The Hörner villages are Fischen, Ofterschwang, Bolsterlang, Obermaiselstein and Balderschwang.

The Allgäu through the year

Every season in the Allgäu is simply magical. In spring, the Allgäu shows its fresh, bright side. Meadows glow yellow with dandelions, streams carry clear meltwater and the air is cool and pure. It smells of damp earth, grass and new beginnings.
Summer is a riot of colour. Alpine meadows are in full bloom, the days are warm and often sunny, the nights pleasantly cool. Between open fields and shady woodland, a gentle, tranquil warmth lies over the landscape.
In autumn, the light turns softer. Forests glow in gold, red and brown, and the air is mild. In the mornings, a touch of dew lies on the meadows until a gentle warmth settles in by midday.
And in winter, everything is transformed. Sparkling snow, white slopes, crystal-clear air and that special stillness that only winter knows.

In winter, all that activity moves out into the snow. Days are shaped by skiing and cross-country skiing, framed by snowy slopes and mountain scenery that makes winter in the Allgäu even more impressive. After an active winter’s day in the snow, it feels wonderful to warm up in the Tanneck spa, soothe your muscles and let your gaze wander once more across the quiet, snow-covered mountains.

With the Allgäu-Walser Card, which you receive free of charge at the Tanneck, you can visit many attractions and events in the Allgäu and Kleinwalsertal at reduced rates or even free of charge. You can also use the Hörnerbahn/Bolsterlang and Weltcup-Express Ofterschwang cable cars free of charge from June to October.
