Between mountains, activity and fresh air, water and warmth at the Tanneck offer a calm counterbalance. The large panoramic glazing in our hotel brings the Allgäu mountain peaks in the sauna and pool area right to the edge of the water. In our wellness hotel, the infinity pool is the heart of the water world. Through the large panoramic window your gaze opens out over the Allgäu as you drift towards the mountains and the water laps gently over the edge. If you wish, you can use the integrated counter-current system for longer swim sessions or steady movement in the water.
Set slightly higher in the indoor pool area, you’ll find the warm-water "Bergsee" pool. At a comfortable 32°C, with whirl jets and bubble loungers, it’s perfect for relaxed moments in between. A panoramic image of Neuschwanstein Castle adorns the wall, inviting you to daydream in the gently bubbling water. In the foreground, your eyes roam across the real Allgäu peaks.
The 34–37°C outdoor saltwater whirlpool on the rooftop panorama lounge turns wellness moments into something truly special all year round, with its ever-changing play of colours. Here, warm water meets fresh mountain air and your gaze sweeps across the Iller valley from Sonthofen to Oberstdorf. On clear days, you can even see all the way to the ski jumping hill in Oberstdorf from amidst the warm bubbles.
Our panorama pools are available for you daily from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. This leaves plenty of time for a few lengths in the morning, a break in between or a relaxing wind-down in the evening.
The saltwater pool on the roof lounge is open daily from 2.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
The sauna area at the Tanneck follows the rhythm of the seasons. Each room creates its own atmosphere and combines warmth, fragrance and surroundings in a different way.
In the Salzstadl, a pleasant 50 degrees creates the feeling of the first warm breeze of spring, accompanied by a fine mist of saline vapour that is soothing for skin and airways. The sauna is located in the pool area and is a textile sauna that is also accessible to children under 16.
In the spring area you can also relax on Physiotherm infrared loungers, whose deep warmth loosens muscles and helps your body to unwind.
In the large bio herbal sauna, 60 degrees of warmth meet 50% humidity. Natural herbal aromas fill the air, and the panoramic windows open up views of alpine summer meadows. The moderate temperature makes it ideal for longer sauna sessions.
The steam bath operates at 60 degrees with 100% humidity. Thick clouds of steam fill the room and your airways, while the warmth has a gently calming effect on your cardiovascular system.
Afterwards, you can refresh body and mind with a Kneipp circuit in the cold water treading pool.
After a steamy sauna session, the cold room provides a clear, bracing change in temperature. A refreshing waterfall stimulates your circulation. Sparkling ice crystals are ideal for boosting blood circulation and rubbing a rosy glow into your skin.
At 85 degrees, the cow shed sauna is the hottest sauna at the Tanneck. Rustic in design, its temperature brings a touch of Finland to the Allgäu. And every sauna session comes with an animal-themed surprise.
The Sauna World at the Tanneck is open daily from 2.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. Entry is reserved exclusively for guests aged 16 and over.
In the Salzstadl textile sauna in the pool area, younger guests are also very welcome.
On Thursdays and Sundays at our 4-star hotel in the Allgäu, the pool and sauna areas stay open longer. From 8.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. you can round off the evening in the warm water or in the sauna, while the lights glitter in the valley below and the world slowly drifts off to sleep.
